This is my stereosystem based on the following devices:

Amplifier
- Cayin A-55T (with KT88 Svetlana winged C tubes)

Source
- Modified Logitech Squeezebox Touch

LiPo Powered Power Supply for the Logitec Touch

DAC
- Metrum mini nos DAC Quad

Speakers
Audio Physic Brilon 2.0
Audio Magic Genta Stands
Audio Physic Luna I

Cables
Apogee Wyde Eye

Canare 4S8

How does it sound? Well here is a short impression and of course in real life the sound is much better but it gives a little impression.
To me it sounds dynamically, 3D, huge soundstage and detailed but never to harsh.

It's this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811204038

Good case for the most part, a couple of flaws (take a look at the reviews on that site) Once its built, no problems though.

This is my bedroom. I ended up bringing the stands into my basement for my rear channels and I am working on making some replacements with hardwood top and bottom. Also, the Cary went back, I was only auditioning. It's not as good for the $$ as the Rogue Cronus Magnum.

Kudos Cardea C30, one of only 2 sets in the USA. The other is owned by my buddy's father. Powered here by a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum.

I have added a few new items since I last posted, so I thought I would share some updated photos.

The Parasound JC-1's are gone. I have added the darTZeel CTH-8550 Integrated amplifier for 2-Ch listening.
I am still using the Classe' SSP-30 MKII for Home Theater, running the Front L/R channels through the darTZeel,
and designating that channel as a HT Bypass, so the Classe' is in full control when using the Home Theater.

Edit - Everything has changed. Will update component list shortly.

Here we go! The foundation of my system is a pair of B-52 LX-1515s. My two amps are a Crown XTi-1000 and a Sony STR-DH810 receiver. I have several options with this rig, including a 'pure' 2-channel setup with just the Crown and B-52's, or else just the Sony and the B-52's (no issues with not having enough power at this efficiency level). However I'm partial to running it as a 2.1 rig with the Sony running the B-52s and the Crown dedicated to the 12", 2 ohm, dual-voice-coil Kicker CompVR.

Bass extension is profound, far exceeding the specs published by Kicker. I was just 'feeling' a 16hz warble tone I downloaded from this site (HSU test tones) and it is so solid! For my small room (12'x18') this system is potential overkill - as some movies (Underworld: Awakening) have demonstrated - the point is quality is very high thanks to the headroom, especially when the price of the components is considered. I will consider upgrading every aspect of this outfit in the future but the basic template (dual 15" mains w/compression horn & an outboard-powered sub) will remain.

But I do! She's a fan of high-fidelity sound, that's 1/2 the reason I married her. This setup is possible because my HT also doubles as my studio. Typically a second TV is in front of the amps, as a second monitor.

Thanks! It really does sound sublime-to me & my wife. The Marantz reference gear does not seem to make it in a lot of rooms in the U.S. (Perhaps I am wrong) I assume it is because some may feel it is a low/mid-fi company catering to the HT crowd, but I suggest people give them a demo. Time to listen.biggrin.gif

Couldn't agree more. If you ask for opinions on Marantz reference gear on audio forums you'll most likely hear only crickets. Personally i really enjoy the involving sound of mine. PM-11S2 integrated and SA-11s2 sacd player. Highly recommend giving Marantz a listen!

I agree with you on this assesment. However, since Marantz was out of the US market with high end gear for quite a while, they did produce some stuff overseas that kept up with their heritage. Re-introducing it back to the US may take a while for buyers to return-but what do I know? The reference series stuff is really fine. I sold off a McIntosh MC402 amp and a C46 preamp after I brought this Marantz system. I do not miss them.

Nice set up tom1040x. I am working on an upgrade to my current 2 channel system as well and in particular I'm considering the same Marantz amplifiers and pre-amp you are currently using along with others. One of the reasons I like these components is their appearance. Obviously not the best reason to buy components but certainly a factor assuming they are sonically comparable to other brands under consideration. I am currently using a B&K EX 442 amplifier and B&K Sonata pre-amp driving a pair of Legacy Focus SE's. For their age the pre-amp and amp sound great but they are more than 20 years old. I would appreciate your impressions of the Marantz equipment. I know this is a bit off topic but I will post a picture of my system soon. Thanks.

I personally find the Marantz reference gear to be great. The reviews in the various audio mags are spot on in my opinion. Also, as of now, I think you should be able to secure a great deal for them on the used market (if you can find any). That is how I aquired mine. However, I have heard thru a local dealer that they may be replaced next year so you may want to wait for the newer product.........what is the other gear you are reviewing?

Here is the latest configuration of my 2-channel setup. I picked up this rack at a local thrift store for $30. I love thrift store shopping. I have found so much really nice stuff for unbelievable prices. I picked up my Adcom combo at the same thrift store for only $150.

I recently had to downsize my setup, going from a Klipsch Chorus II/Anthem Integrated 225/Marantz SA-11S1 setup to this, and for a 'budget" setup it sounds excellent.
