Nice looking cabinet, great cable work!! Those towers look vicious with the grills off!!

Spinning the rear tire at 150mph while at 3/4 lean angle will put wrinkles in your seat

Thanks....I wish my wife would let me keep them off, but that was the deal to get them in the family room given I have a upstairs setup with the grills off.

Nothing fancy. It's in the basement. I know the sub isn't supposed to be in the middle but honestly when you lean back you still get a nice musical kick from it. Wife's orders: "You got the music room in the basement but please keep it aesthetically pleasing."

I have to let her have a win in this. Because she helped me put this room together. I owe her that much

Setup (also in my sig).

Speakers: Polk Audio LSiM703
Receiver: Harman Kardon HK3490
Sub: Martin Logan Depth i 8" Triple Drivers
PC: Basic celeron PC
Soundcard: Creative External HD USB sound card -> via optic fiber to HK3490
Blu-Ray player: Some Sony for CD and Blu-Ray playback
TV: Sony XBR55850C

With Ambiance (actual room look and setting)

Had to use a flash for the rest of these:

Who says the sub has to be in a specific spot? A sub like that can pretty much be wherever it wants to be

What I really want to know is; how long have you owned your 703's and what can you tell me about them musically?

Nice room btw, I'm a bit jealous

Thanks!

I've had them for a year and have around 200 hours of listening time.

My thoughts from the Official Polk Audio owners thread:

For Rap, Electronic and any music with a deep and heavy bass line requires a sub.
Otherwise here is my breakdown:

Ratings by Genre
Country: 10/10 (clean and crisp, very detailed)
Classic Rock: 9/10
Electronic (with sub): 8/10 (ability to bring out all the details and keep up with the beat)
Pop: 8/10 (requires a sub)
Acoustic: 10/10 (each twang can be heard and felt)
Orchestra: 9/10 (clean and detailed)
Rock: 7.5/10 (instruments don't have enough room to stand out. Guitars don't sound crunchy enough for my tastes. Sound stage not as big as other genres)
Metal: 8.5/10 (Has a nice mid bass kick to it and the thrashing of drums really have weight)
Male Vocals: 9/10
Female Vocals: 10/10

Overall score: 89/100

Ratings by Characteristic:
Treble: 4.5/5. Can be a tad bit hot with very few select material. But overall fairly smooth
Mids: 4.5/5
Bass: 5/5
Sound stage: 4/5 (varies based on genre but I think this is a pretty solid 4 overall)
Sound projection (You have to close your eyes for this one. How far ahead of the speaker the sound seems to be coming from): For female vocals: 5/5, for rock music: 3/5, for everything else in between 4/5
Imaging (with eyes closed): 4/5

Overall: 26/30

They can carry their own weight in the low end for most genres. It's just rap and the heavy bass reliant music that can be limiting for these speakers. I mean I fooled most of my friends by playing Hotel California and the first bass drop (drum) sounded as if the sub was at work (when it wasn't, I had turned it off for the demo).

Vocals regardless of genre, stand out. They almost at times sound like as if they're coming from in front of the speaker, and not out of it. Superb.

All in all they're on par with bookshelves up to the $2000 range. I love them, but bands like Chevelle, Pearl Jam (the heavier tracks) could sound better. Maybe I'm too used to rocking out on tower speakers.

I'm glad you are enjoying them. It seemed such a waste for me to only use them on occasion. That was the reason for selling them.

I've heard these speakers and I must say I was very comfortable with them. They sound like home to me, very warm, inviting and full of life. Great to see you enjoying them.

Yup it's pretty sweet how they meld together and the 452 has only about 40 hours of playtime on it. Sounding better and better everyday.

My music corner is getting crowded since last weekend because my wife says no more room for bedroom music system and while moving things around Sansui amp got scratched on the faceplate , I moved everything into my music corner and took some pictures.

My ultra mint Sansui with scratch on the face as you can see in above photo, it's right under letter integrated and above bass control knob.

This side is still ultra mint as I got it in 1996.

I was using Sansui AU-α907MR & Pioneer PD-HL5 CDP with Kef LS50, SF Venere 1.5 & SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers all white in rotation in our master bedroom, luckily I was still under return period for SF Venere 1.5 so I retuned it yesterday.

Used to be bedroom system.

Now I have to make my decision which speakers to keep and which one to sell because I have 2 more system in other room with ELAC B5 & Pioneer BS22 Speakers which my wife is not too happy about

Try a small dab of Flitz metal polish and GENTLY buff it out. Sux you got booted from your music room. Women just don't understand us men and our "hideouts". Nice system BTW.
