Great setup, if you want to tube rolling, I would recommend RCA JAN 12SX7 in place of the 12SN7

Pulled the trigger on a new phono pre: The Fosgate Signature!

I'm sure the looks of this thing are considered divisive, but I personally like it. The sound of this is hugely improved over the Clearaudio Basic. Huge soundstage, the room disappears, the bass and lower midrange, where I found it a bit bloated, now run from authoritative (bass) to smooth (lower mid) and more realistic. Of course I have to try some tube rolling now!

Had to get a new stand too, as I was totally out of space!

Very cool. It's nice to see another all-tube setup. The Fosgate Signature is a great phono - enjoy in good health!

Ok, so I traded back my integrated amp, and got a C47 pre and a MC275 tube amp... basically, my wife said "go for it", because it was our 9th anniversary LOL.

I am floored. The C47 has made a HUGE difference in how my turntable sounds, and the tube amp is everything folks say tubes should be.

I feel beyond grateful to have this stuff, and beyond grateful to share it all with you.

Thanks for letting me sort of spam here, as I continued to upgrade my system

I promise to stop for now

Congratulations on the new amp and preamp combo! I love my MC275, as well.

One thing I noticed is that it looks like you are tapped into the 16 ohm speaker output terminals. Your speakers are 8 ohm and drop down to 4.6 ohms, so you should try both the 8 ohm and 4 ohm output terminals to see if that improves the sound. My speakers are 8 ohm and drop down to 3.2 ohms and I use the 4 ohm terminals with great results.

Congrats again!

Thanks! I just checked... they ARE plugged into the 16 ohm terminals... no idea why? I will ask him (person who helped set it up) and see if it was an oversight or if there is some reason, and report back with my findings

Appreciate the heads up!

There's actually nothing from preventing you from just trying it yourself. Simply move the two plugged into the 16 ohm terminals into the 8s (be sure to turn off your amp when you do this!) and see if there is an increase in dynamics. Then try doing it on the 4 ohm terminals. Stick with the one you like the best at the volume you prefer.

After you figure out which setting you like best, we'll move on to tube rolling!

Congrats on the 804s!

Diamond, nautilus or the "S" version?

I'm thinking maybe next year to replace my DM604S3 with either 804 or 803. What concerns me is that I see a lot of pop'ed diamond tweeters and I know they are about $1,100-1,500 a piece! The regular tweeter can be had for something like $25 to 50 bucks.
Not that I'm planning to over power them, but my kid pushed in 2 tweeters on my old PSB set.

Thanks! Moved them to the 8 ohm!
Just wondering if you have noticed a difference vs the 16 ohm terminals.
I would say it's slight, but YES. I can't put my finger on it, but at the risk of sounding doofy, it sounds a bit more detailed in the mids.

I did just order heavy weight curtains, acoustic panels for the ceiling, and a new cart; Soundsmith MiMC STAR.

The cart, curtains, and panels will be installed over the next two or so weeks. Then: GAME ON!!!!
