Hey now fellars...

I'm putting together an iPod/phono audio system. I'm looking at Yamaha a-s500bl, Onkyo tx8050, pioneer a35r, can bridge audio azure 550 for my integrated amp.

If anyone has any experience with the above mentioned please let me know. What you like, what you didn't like.

I set up a Yamaha S500 for my Dad, it was easy and sounded great. Has throw-back capability for tape loops and plenty of inputs. Also has the ability to monitor one input while recording another. That capability can also be used as a "zone-2" output. Plenty of headroom too. I would recommend one without hesitating.

I'm starting to lean towards Onkyo a5vl. Just wish it had a subwoofer

If you can go another hundred look at the Music Hall A15.2. I really like mine. Has phono in, line in and fixed preout that will allow a subwoofer.

No it's an integrated so I just use the internal pre. I'm running a squeezebox touch for most of my music and a cheap technics tt for vinyl. Would like to get a dad at some point though.

The Cambridge Audio amplifier is a better-sounding amplifier than the others from my experience.

I used a Cambridge 340A for a couple of years in one system before upgrading to the Musical Fidelity M3i and it is quite good-sounding. It is like new and can be had for a very reasonable amount.

Send a PM if interested.

Commsysman, if you would like to sell your CA 340A, there is a section on AVS for selling used gear. Please stop spamming threads.

For every new thing I learn, I forget two things I used to know.
