I doubt there's enough traffic to warrant it.

If there was, I would have asked what everyone's haul from 2012's RSD was.

All I pict up was "Cause for Alarm's" 7", from Victory Records.

I wasn't impressed by this years RSD options.

This strikes me as a solution in search of a problem.

Search for a solution and one can usually avoid a problem.

RSD is Record Store Day, held 2nd or 3rd Saturday every April for the past few years, to support independent stores. Every year there are a number of RSD exclusives. I agree with a previous poster, this years deals were not that great, imo.

Maybe it is warranted. I recently started a thread with just the name of a turntable and it's gotten 500 hits so far. That shows some interest. I know I'd be on there.

vinylengine forums. Go there and ye shall find whatever you might want to learn or ask about records and turntables.

It is true vinylengine is currently the better place to discuss vinyl reproduction. Nevertheless, in avsforum there are a lot of people with great experience and/or knowledge whose opinions would be of great value. These persons do not visit

In any case, since my last visit I've noticed more interest in this very topic.

Just my opinion.

Agreed, but vinylengine is a site with many subforums and a lot of posters which is devoted exclusively to vinyl and turntables and the whole experience. I have no doubt that there are knowledgeable persons here who are into LPs and TTs and who could contribute, but I doubt AVS could replicate the thoroughness or enthusiasm of vinylengine's site. Furthermore, I do not see the point in reinventing that particular wheel.

I agree with mcnarus that requesting a devoted subforum here, at AVS, seems like a solution in search of a problem. Want to ask a newbie question about vinyl or TTs? Want to offer help to newbies based on your vast experience? Want something in between? Go to vinylengine and knock yourself out. It's a great site and there are loads of helpful posters and some great information. It's not a crazy nutty place like head-fi that is distinctly anti-science. It's practical and hands-on, and mostly full of enthusiasts swapping useful ideas and sharing stories. I just don't see a need for trying to recreate it or something like it here. It seems like it would bring a lot of unwanted and counterproductive arguments about how inferior vinyl is to CD or digital files like FLAC, invariably leading to lots of flame wars and retreads of the same tired arguments pro and con.

Vinylengine is free of that. Enjoy it. Don't sully that atmosphere by replicating it here, where it will not remain mostly immune from the naysayers.

Will,

I concede you have a strong point here.
