I basically need a speaker level switch.

I dont have front channel preamp outs on the receiver, so an auto switching power amp for the front L and R wouldn't work.

Thinking about getting a 4pdt switch and wiring it into a wall plate. Not pretty but functional if i can figure out how to wire it. I have a long history of borking switch wiring.

Thoughts?

Stereo gear
6300 turntable
Philips dvd player as cd source
Yaqin ms-12b tube preamp
GAS son of ampzilla

HT gear
Tivo, blu ray, wdtv
Yamaha rx-v467

Stereo Speakers are
BIC DV62si

Center channel is a Mirage omnisat v2cc

Search for OSD ATM-7 speaker selector. I use one to switch between tube and solid state amps. It comes with its own remote (or you can program universal one). This is the best device for your purpose.

Here is something similar that may be prettier:

Tons of alternatives - google is you friend!

Thing is, as long as it is you doing the wiring, you can screw it up no matter what you buy. ;-)

OT but hey Drjaymez, we have the same amp and speakers. Never thought I'd see that.

You can use a speaker to line level converter. It takes less than $1 (assuming you use 1% resistors) worth of resistors per side and if soldering isn't your thing you can buy ready-made units for the car audio market.

To answer those curious and for posterity, I went with a Niles SPK-1 that I picked up cheap on eBay. It automatically switches sources when I fire up my stereo amp. I just finally wired everything up today and so far so good.
