Anyone know of good quality 2.1 preamp that does the following well? Budget is $2k.
1) Sub integration and bass management
2) HT bypass

I don't want to start anything here but........
You could look at the new Emotiva XSP-1 or even the older USP-1.
I had the older USP-1 in my system for a while and for the money it was great.

The best-sounding preamp I know of for under $2000 is the Vincent SA-31MK preamp. It is $1500. Much better IMO than anything Parasound makes in that price range.

It has two sets of outputs, one of which can go to the subwoofer. All you need to do for "bass management" is set the rolloff frequency and level on your subwoofer; works great for me.

Neither of those have HT bypass, and the XSP is an unknown quantity at this point. The USP has a crappy volume control, users complain that the increments are too big for typical adjustments.

The USP-1 actually has the HT bypass feature. Unfortunately, the unit has to be on to use it.

Pardon me, I remembered an issue with the bypass, I should have double checked, the XSP has to be on as well.

Parasound P7, recently on sale for way less than $2k at authorized dealers. It's all analog: no DAC or digital inputs, but a pair of balanced inputs and 7.1 balanced outs, plus lots of unbalanced ins and outs. Phono stage, both MM and MC. Analog bass management. HT bypass (7.1). With a top flight universal player or an external DAC, it's quite the future proof unit. You change what feeds into it rather than get a new pre every time there's a new spec-o'-the-month.

What I can afford, when I can afford it...

Whilst it does have some bass management, it isn't much giving only a choice of turnover of 50 or 80Hz and no ability to select slope, so you'd want to hope the limited options will actually be what you need in your particular system.
Much better would be a separate active xover.

Maybe you could enumerate the "much better" part while keeping the OP's two requirements in mind?

I pointed out the limitations in the P7, but I'm not the least interested in searching for an alternate product. Suggest something else and I will look and comment.

That's not likely. It seems the OP has left, and I'm not interested in supporting your hobby.

Hardly my hobby. This issue has come up before with this pre, so I knew what the limitations were, but if you think limited choices of xover freq, available filters and slopes (or even stating what the included ones are) then you have a different view than I do, especially considering it's price.
