According to this site:

http://www.lydogbilde.no/nyheter/yamaha-satser-tungt-pa-lyd

They are going to cost 4000 euro each.

As a Yamaha fan who owns the A-S1000/CD-S1000 combo, these look very promising.

They look very nice in a classy 70s/80s way, but as a long time Yamaha amp owner, I could see no reason to pony up EU4k for the amp, let alone the CDP. An OPPO 95 might not look as pretty, but is 1/6th the price (where I am) and would take a lot of improvement to best, plus it plays DVD/BR.

I did listen to BDP-95 before at my friend's home, for an universal player it sounds excellent.

The new flagships are indeed expensive, but I think the more choices we have the better. (And these boys still aren't anywhere as costly as other Yamaha hi-end stuff during the late 80s. lol)

If performance, not aesthetics or prestige is the criteria for choosing an audio product, then I fail to see the reason for such high prices, especially for a mere CDP and what will be a fairly generic class AB poweramp. I must admit I like the meters though.

I think it is too early to talk about the performance of A-S3000. (well in my completely biased opinion, this thing is going to sound very good) If it is designed to take on Luxman 509u and Accuphase E460. That explains the price tag too. (It will cost less than $4K street price when it hits North America.)

Any update on the date of launch for this Yamaha A-S3000 ?

I try to look everywhere and can't find any update on this model...

I wonder whether Yamaha bring/display this amp at the current 2013 CES show...

Wow! Looks great, unfortunately for Yami they have to win on looks. Like the above posters mentioned, this is a tough sell. I was in the market for the S2000 until the Oppo. That is a lot to pay for looks and less flexibility, even if it will be primarily 2 channel.

Official pages of A-S3000 and CD-S3000

The DAC for CD-S3000 is ES9018, very interesting.

very beautiful components indeed!

I'm surprised that given the old-school look and feature set (tone controls and wattage meters, etc..) that there is no MONO switch. ..May seem silly to some, but that would be a deal-breaker for me. ..I don't think I'll ever again own an integrated amp that lacks a mono switch. ..A lot of older recordings have stereo mixing that is over done to the point of gimmickry (ex: all vocals from one speaker all guitar accompaniment from the other) and a mono switch makes these tracks far more listenable.

Looks pretty sweet. I saved, scrimped, begged borrowed to finally aquire an A-S2000 and a matching (almost; Black CD-S2000/Silver A-S2000) CD-S2000 to use with my ML Vistas, love my current components, so has anyone heard the 3000's compared to the 2000's?

The A-S3000 is a bit more powerful, has beautiful meters on the faceplate, but is it worth upgrading?

The CD-S3000 is???
TuenMuner's Avatar TuenMuner 04:23 PM 05-03-2013
I feel your pain, I have a black A-S1000 and a silver CD-S1000. lol
InterMechanico's Avatar InterMechanico 12:51 AM 05-04-2013
No, it's alright... I have a plan. Listen to this: I will get the A-S3000 to power the panel secion of my Vista ESL's, use the A-S2000 to power the woofers and the CD-S2000 seems to spec out the same, so she can stay :-D.

I've been poking around looking for a suitable PA to Bi-Amp with anyhow. This will keep brand continuity inline too. I've been thinking on this for a full 14 hours now; it's a DONE DEAL. Can't Wait.biggrin.gif

Haha! I got the A-S2000 off ebay for 1200.00 open box, then struggled with the low input voltage on the balanced inputs (unaware) using my DACMagic. Finally found a CD-S2000 for 1000.00 (demo) and figured my voltage/gain issue out the same day. What a great pair though.

First look of the Japanese-market models:

http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20130711_606350.html

451,500yen for CD-S3000
493,500yen for A-S3000

Both are made in Malaysia.
TuenMuner's Avatar TuenMuner 04:38 PM 08-21-2013
The official USA MSRPs:

A-S3000 - $8K
CD-S3000 - $7K

http://usa.yamaha.com/news_events/audio_visual/yamaha_unleashes_flagship_s3000series/

Both cost a lot more than I ever imagined.

And I thought the Marantz PM11S3 & SA11S3 were expensive. That is well into the price range of high-end separates.

Not what I would call a terrific value.

Even considering they will be found at about 20% off that's still expensive.

Looks like Yamaha disregarded the bargain hunters on this one.

For that price,

I would rather wait, save more money and buy Jeff Rowland Integrated !

I think there is price ceiling at which people will stop looking at integrated solutions and move to separates.

I'd prefer an integrated solution. At that price I'd save a few grand and go with a Luxmanl-505ux
Tank_PD's Avatar Tank_PD 05:07 PM 08-22-2013
For clarification I think that ceiling is somewhere around 5K +/- a bit. The Luxman is just under that. The Marantz PM11S3 is near that price point as well. The McIntosh integrated amps are around there plus some change, but offer more power. Asking much more and you can get a separate pre / significantly more powerful amp.

It was also disappointing that on Yamaha's website the only model available now for the us is black, not the classic silver look.

Marantz just did this with their reference line too. As soon as I was warming up to the champagne color it is now only available in black. I don't know why it is so hard to offer the same colors to the US as the rest of the world. It seems like Europe gets the all of the available color options.
TuenMuner's Avatar TuenMuner 03:34 PM 08-23-2013
I still have a hard time to understand why they cost so much more in the US compare to the Japanese/European models.

A-S3000 in Japan - 493500 yen, in UK - 3999 pound.(4500 euro?)

Because Yamaha believes there's a market in the US for that product at that price.

That's the only reason anything costs what it does.
