I just have bought the Rega RP3 with Exact cartridge, and at this moment I have the ClearAudio Smartphono to demo it, since the dealer did not have any Rega phono in the store.
Although the combo sounds great and the bass is deep, I am still not sure if there are better phono amps that are a better match.
I am looking for a full rich and warm sound that still has pace and wide stage.
The MM phono amp should be less than 600 USD and these are the ones I am considering:
  1. Rega Fono Mini A2D
  2. Pro-ject Tube Box SE II

I have read some people think the best match with a Rega TT is a Rega phono, although I am looking for a rich warm 'tube' sound and was wondering if that can be better achieved with another brand.
I would like to hear from other people how they experienced the RP3 in combination with these and other brands.

Many thanks!

I have tried multiple phono preamps, have build/modified several myself and in any case was never able to hear sonic differences besides different noisefloor in "no signal input" conditions.
The noisefloor of any record itself is higher than any phono preamps I have tried.

I find anything above 100$ for a phono MM preamp laughable.
MC is a bit different because of the higher amplification demands.

That is the so called "synergy" bull...
