A lot of people that I know don't listen to cds anymore. I still prefer cds, I listen to mp3s sometimes. Since a lot of people listen to music digitally, do a lot of you do this with no pre amp?

No, but I do have all my CD's ripped to my server as FLAC files, and play them using a Logitech Squeezebox Touch to my integrated amp. The Squeeze gets the files via wifi from my router. Sounds identical to the original CD to my ears. I use iTunes with my iPhone, using compressed files however when away from the house.

I use iTunes, Apple Lossless or 320K AAC. Playback is via Apple TV (HDMI to AVR) or AirportXpress (analog) or 96KHz DAC. I keep all my original CDs in a binder to take as little space as possible. I still by CDs, though. A lightly used CD on Amazon is less than the compressed version on iTunes, you get to keep the original and rip it any way you want. I haven't played an actual CD in years. I do play discs, but they are DVDAudio, 5.1 or hig-res 2channel. Can't handle 5.1 audio in iTunes.mad.gif

Just started using Audyssey amp Media Player on my IOS devices...awesome!
