Since it looks like people still look at this thread (I see the viewed count go up when I poke around my old posts every few months) I'll give a quick update.
I ended up with the primus 143 and the dta100, and I've been very happy with them moving around. We lived in a hotel in Morocco for 6 weeks, and I hooked these up to the TV and my raspberry pi on the second day. We moved to a condo for a year, where they went in the dining room/kitchen, then to a hotel in Spain for 6 months, then a rent house back home, and now I'm in my own new house, they're in the kids den for Doc McStuffins and dance parties. I get to listen to podcasts while I work out in there in the evenings.
I made a plywood case that held the speakers, amp, and a bunch of cables, and made it much easier to haul it all around. No pics handy, but that made all the difference. It was heavy, but I could carry the whole mess in one hand, and easily drag them to a party or the next house.
The amp got a loose rca connection early on, but I soldered it back in, and no further trouble. The speaker cases are quite sturdy.
