I'm looking for inexpensive (less than $50) headphones that will cancel a lot of the noise coming from the engines on planes. I don't care too much about the sound quality. Just going to use them to watch movies. Thanks.

How about foam earplugs, with normal cheap headphones turned up really, really loud?

You get the function mentioned above, but far better integrated in IEMs - in-ear-monitors.

These are relatively inexpensive, highly reviewed, and I have a pair on order that are supposed to show up tomorrow:

These are the ones I use.......
http://www.protravelgear.com/products/Plane-Quiet-Platinum-Headphone-Featuring-New-Solitude-Technology.html

On short flights (2-4 hours) they work great but many of the flights I take are 8-10 hrs long.
The problem on the long flights, especially when I have to take two 8-10hr flights in a row, is that they tend to makes your ears sore from the pressure of the cups against your ears.
I use them sparingly on the longer flights, mainly when I want to sleep or watch TV.

These get good Amazon reviews:

Like a previous poster noted, on the ear headphones can get uncomfortable on very long flights.

Creative EP-630 In -Ear Stereo Headphones is all i buy. i usually get them off ebay for less than $10/pair.
i have bought them for as low as $3/pair in lots of 10 from a china seller and give them to the kids & swmbo for xmas
i fall asleep listening to the radio, i'll take a new pair out of the box and cut off one earbud and use the other to sleep with biggrin.gif
for comfort during long periods of use, use the smallest earpiece adapter, they come with 3 different sizes
