Are there some secret bonus awards one can achieve by starting the most threads here on AVS? If so, I need to get in on that.

Nevermind. I'll never catch up.

Mourning the disappearing usage of the -ly suffix. Words being cut-off before they've had a chance to fully form, left incomplete, with their shoelaces untied and their zippers undone. If I quote your post (or post in your thread) without comment, please check your zipper.

That's fantastic! One my favorite audio moments was when we (me and my wife) went to an audio store to listen to a new pre-amp. It was really cold outside and we couldn't find a parking spot close, so a bit of a walk. We got to the store and I started to talking to the sales person. All of a sudden, I realize that my wife is nowhere to be found, so I start wandering around store to find her. She was standing next to a Balanced Audio Technology VK-60 power amp, warming her hands over the tubes. With a big smile she said, "we can use one of these". She's always loved tubed amps from that point on, so now we have a small, integrated, single-ended amp in our ski lodge. After ski includes an hour or so of music and her warming her hands over the amp.

I think everyone should buy their wife high-quality audio gear whenever possible.

I just ordered my wife a pair of Vandersteen Treo speakers, and I know she will be delighted with them.

I found a wife for my stereo....
Her father has been into gear for all of her life, she grew up with it.
That said she has absolutely no interest in it at all.
All she knows is that men have to spend a lot of time and a portion
of their income on gear to remain happily married....
I love that guy....

You don't necessarily need a wife that loves the gear per se... my wife is a classically trained pianist, so she understands what it's supposed to sound like. Our first date was spend in front of a pair of Magnepan MMG's in my dorm room, listening to all kinds of classical recordings. Right there and then, she understood how poorly most of her "hi-fi" sounded and how good it could sound. I bring her and her favorite recordings every time I want to buy something... her hearing is by far superior to mine and she can pick out details instantly that is only clear to me once pointed out.
