Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my bedroom setup. I currently have a Sharp iPod/iPhone dock stereo which isn't bad but it's time for a sonic upgrade. My bedroom is small (10'x12').

My budget is $600 - $700 for an integrated amp and pair of speakers. I already have a SB3 with an Auricap mod that I'd would like to use. As well I have a Apple AE that I'd like to use to stream music to from my phone or laptop. I listen to all types of music. with primarily R&B, 80's, Old Rock, Electronica, World Music, Latin.

A smallish speaker, a sealed or front ported enclosure as they would sit almost right up against the wall. I'd like a wise soundstage or 3D imaging...I know that's asking a lot of a small speaker.

A smallish integrated amp as space is at a premium. Also, an amp with a couple of digital inputs and at least one analog input.

Speakers Possibilities:

Cambridge S30 http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CAS30&variation=BLK

I've heard this speaker and like it, it has a small footprint BUT it has a rear port. However, it is relatively inexpensive.

KEF Q300

I like this speaker too, a bit more expensive but it has a front port. It's bigger than the S30

NHT Classic Model Two

I haven't heard this speaker but it has a small footprint and it's has gotten a lot of good review.

Any other suggestions for a small speaker that plays bigger than it's size?

Integrated Amp

Qinpu A-6000 - It's gotten a lot of great reviews on Amazon. Small footprint, Doesn't break the bank.

Emotiva Mini-X - Not too many reviews but the ones I did find really praise it. Small footprint, doesn't break the bank, BUT only 1 set of inputs. http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/a100

My ideal setup would be the new TEAC AI-500 Integrated amp http://www.teac.com/product/ai-501da/ and a pair of Monitor Audio Silver RX-1.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Here's a pic of my system. Sounds great and is very affordable.

Cambridge Audio S30 speakers - $220 (purchased locally)
AudioSource Amp100 Integrated amp - $90 (J&R online). ..50w into 8ohms/ 60 into 4ohms is more than powerful enough for a bedroom system.

Works great with my squeezebox, and airport express streaming from our ipods/iphones. ..Note that the amp does NOT have digital inputs. However, I don't think the sound would be improved one iota by having an outboard DAC. ..The DAC's in the Squeezebox and the Apple AE work just fine.

A very affordable and great sounding bedroom system.

Nice article. I would add the Ascend Acoustics CBM-170SE to your list. Add the Onkyo 8050 or an AVR and you would be set.
