I just got a pair of Audioengine A5+ powered speakers as well as an Audiolab M-DAC and am loving both a LOT.
I'm now looking to complete the setup with a quality subwoofer for under $500.
Mainly use this setup for listening to music (50% various electronic [house, drum and bass, trance, etc.] and 50% everything else [rock, country, classical, jazz, etc.]). Probably 10% of the time will have movies.
I was looking at either the SVS PB-1000 or SB-1000, but am open to other recommendations.
The one thing I'm wondering is which of those two you think might be better for my applications.
I have people over pretty often and want something that will nicely fill out my large, acoustically challenged, space. It's a big 1100 Sq.Ft. "L" shaped basement, with the setup being at the top of the "L"- slate floors, too :/
I'd like something very powerful that can move a decent amount of air.
Was originally looking at the Audioengine S8, but feel it's too costly for what it is...
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I should add I've got a chance to get a REL T5 sub for around this price, but the specs don't seem as impressive? Am I missing something? Why does it command such a premium (when talking new prices) over the SVS, or even the S8 for that matter (as both have a downward firing 8")? Sorry if it's a stupid question!
