Reminds me of my first receiver (that I bought, the actual first was a Fisher my dad handed down to me). Think I had the 2270. Had Advents back then (the Original). I'd still prefer my current speaker setup over the Advents, although they were very good speakers. I didn't think the Marantz was as good sounding as the Fisher at the time, but the Fisher had died and was no more. I see that's a direct drive tt with a quick google, but don't remember Sony turntables having been on my radar back then. What cartridge are you using?
So why vintage? You have a lot of old LPs like me? (something tells me you aren't as old as most of my records) I do still play my records in my 2ch setup (in my profile under bar) but I wouldn't likely buy that stuff if I didn't already have it. The recording media I lusted after in the old days was reel to reel, wanted a Teac 3340 but never did anything about it...
Thanks for the memories, have fun with your new-to-you gear.

Is it too free to control?" - Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) discussing commercial success in the music biz
