Hey guys, got my new TT today, and I feel like I just royally screwed up. Unboxed it, and it is gorgeous. Started to set it up, and when I took the cap of the Ortofon 2M that came with my Pro-Ject Carbon Debut I thought that the needle wasn't 'down' enough, so very lightly tapped it with my finger, on the underside (not at an angle) ... I seemed to remember that when I was younger and had a player, the needle was more pronounced, and it didn't look 'down' enough. Only then did I double check the image online to see mine was just fine.

I'm hoping I didn't royally screw things up by touching the needle in this fashion? Is there any way to tell when I start playing records?

First rule of thumb: If it sounds OK, it is OK. Start with that.

If you can't explain how it works, you can't say it doesn't.β€”The High-End Creed

If you just tapped it lightly, you probably are OK.

Look at the needle and its cantlever closely and make sure they are centered looking from all directions (nothing off-center or bent).

Played a few records today, everything sounded good. Thanks for helping to ease my fears. Needle looks centered, as far as I can tell, and records played through perfectly.
