Hi all,

I am looking to set up a 2nd Squeeze Box in my study (I have one setup with TV etc plugged into AV Receiver/Amp).

I need either a set of powered bookshelf speakers, or a small (ie, not a huge receiver) amp and a set of bookshelf speakers.

I've been looking around the web but not sure where to start. Took a trip to a hifi store today but all the staff were too busy to help out.

I've started reading through the threads, and reading these:

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/bookshelf/budget-bookshelf-shootout-2009

Which would lead down to amp + speaker combo.

http://www.audiostream.com/category/desktop-component-reviews

Which would lead down the powered speaker option.

The Vanatoo Transparent One looks good, I like the inputs, but would need some kind of step down transformer for 240 -> 110.

Something a little cheaper, less inputs (not really an issue, only need to support the Squeeze Box) is the Paradigm A2.

Thoughts on powered speaker vs external amp?

Anything else I should have a read of?

Cheers, Tim.

Thanks for replying!

Possibly a little physically large for the space, but I'll have read about them.

Cheers, Tim.

The Audioengine A2 powered speakers are very good, and only $199; I use them with my PC with a small powered subwoofer.

The new PSB PS1 powered speakers are also supposed to be very good, and are $299.
