So i used to have a Modular Component Systems (MCS) solid state receiver back in college, hooked up to pioneer home theater speakers. worked okay but not great being a JCpenny receiver, also i literally used a lamp cord and a gutted RCA cables as speaker wires.
So i headed down to the local thrift stores, and found a banged up non-functioning Bose acoustimass 3 system with a powered sub, powered sub was not working, but i bought the 2 cube speakers that went with them for $10, went to another one and found this miniature onkyo reciver for $40.
i had to find someone on craigslist selling a non-powered acoustimass 3 sub (not really a sub, but yeah), took me 2 days of running around and finally have sound coming out of my pc!
i know bose isn't great but i was ecstatic to find something that was a real brand, a lot of Emerson (wal-mart brand) or off brand garbage at those places (dell branded speakers), if i could find Bowers & Wilkins or magnepan (yeah right) i would have snatched them up in a second!
Right now im on walmart (RCA brand) junk speaker wires, they really are junk i can't even strip them without removing half of the core, at it's like 20 gauge!
im thinking about ordering some cables and banana ends from monoprice, i already have some 12 gauge amp ends.
immediate negatives i can think of right now, is it will always be a 2 channel setup, never anything else, since the sub only supports the 2 cubes i have, and the receiver is only a 2ch setup.
here are some pictures, what do you guys think? comments/suggestions? or tell me im an idiot for buying bose crap that has a really stupid low/mid- high system, with crappy drivers. (i know!)
Would that be RS Model: SP-12-381
Letsee the Monoprice is what twice the length for half the price...
Wire is wire.
Personally I'd take Monoprice 2816 because I like the look of jacketed wire.
