Pink Floyd has had a huge influence on the way records sound and are composed and produced.
I was listening to one of my recent purchases, the excellent ''The Old Man and the Sea'' by Batik, and I do not know if the Batik musicians are Floyd fans, but the whole album, although being completely different music, has a very strong ''floydian'' atmosphere. The music is composed and played as a suite with a theme, just like i.e. Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall, and the use of space and simple but very well composed to the point tunes are also reminiscent of Pink Floyd's best work.
On this website there are 1.30 minutes samples of the tunes;http://www.soundliaison.com/products-from-our-studio-showcase-series/110-batik-flac
and there is one whole tune from the album available on the Compare Formats download from the Sound Liaison record label;http://www.soundliaison.com/all-our-products/179-formats-to-compare-wav-flac-cd-mp3

My son immediately suggested this video, which is completely different from the Batik album, Rock vs Jazz, but nevertheless very ''Floydian''.

Based on your (numerous) recommendations and positive comments throughout the web I purchased "The Old Man and the Sea" but won't cue it up until this evening.

Yes Steven Wilson definitely channels Floyd at times - this is my favorite (and a great Space Odyssey):

Outstanding topic! I'm eager to hear other suggestions.

I have some Steve Wilson and Porcupine Tree CDs and BDs. They're great.

Hawkwind also plays the "freak out" time of Floyd -

You can pick out any number of PF influences on any Alan Parsons release -

German artists like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, (early) Popoh Vul seemed to be clearly influenced by early Pink Floyd (Interstellar Overdrive, Sauceful of Secrets, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun).

Hi Citizen Arcane, thanks a lot for the links, I am having a wonderful time listening to (for me) new music this morning.

Please everyone keep the suggestions coming.

This one is maybe a bit far fetched but the sound/production does have a floydian vibe or am I too far out here?

The Orb Featuring David Gilmour - Metallic Spheres

Ok this one is cheating a little, Gilmour plays (actually is mixed in) with an ambient surrounding. Unique.

Try cueing them at the same time the MGM lion roars while watching 'The Wizard of Oz' and see if it's in time.

Queensryche came to mind - not necessarily an entire album, but the song Silent Lucidity sounds pretty much exactly like Comfortably Numb:

...and of course Dream Theater, who has covered entire Pink Floyd albums in concert.

The intro to this one sounds like something from Wish You Were Here:
