Cool! Was Anderson and Pop together, or just happened to be in the same proximity??? I can't image what those two would have to talk about!

Alas, Anderson isn't on this tour or the upcoming album. Still, great seats at one of the best music venues in the U.S., playing two of the best Yes albums (Fragile and Close to the Edge) in entirety, so I'm looking forward to it.

Iggy was signing autographs at the front of the stage , I went up and he introduced Jon :-) happy days .

The funny thing was I won the tickets through what was arguably the largest tabloid paper of the day ( the sun)

I arrived at the site on my way to my honeymoon with my then wife , we had won weekend tickets and arrived at 7am to what we thought was a brilliant bonfire with a least 20 people gathered round it . Turned out to be someone's tent !

Awesome schedule!

I'm also seeing Ian Anderson in October. Wish I was seeing Paul. Might see Belew, I've seen him around a half-dozen times.

Because Geoff Tate and the other members of Queensryche have parted ways. For a while, there were two groups touring calling themselves Queensryche. The one with Geoff Tate was something like "Queensryche w/Geoff Tate" the other just Queensryche. They recently settled the legal rights to the Queensryche name and songs:

...the band bought Tate’s share of the Queensryche corporation while allowing him exclusive full-album live performance rights for the ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ and ‘Operation: Mindcrime II’ releases. Tate is no longer allowed to use the group’s logo or non-’Mindcrime’ album artwork, and he’s only able to use the band name in connection with his live shows for a limited time. “He can only refer to himself as the ‘Original Lead Singer of Queensryche’ or ‘Formerly of Queensryche’ for a period of two years and that text must be at least 50% smaller than his name in all materials. After this two-year period passes, he can only refer to himself as Geoff Tate with no mention of Queensryche at all,” explains the release. “Geoff Tate will be able to finish any confirmed dates billed for his Queensryche lineup scheduled to terminate on August 31st, 2014. As of September 1st, there will be only one Queensryche entity and that will consist of Eddie Jackson, Todd LaTorre, Parker Lundgren, Scott Rockenfield and Michael Wilton. This lineup will continue to perform selections from their entire musical catalog including songs from ‘Operation: Mindcrime.’”

When did you see King Crimson? I saw them twice also. Once in 1981 and then again in 1982. I really wish I had been able to see them in 1973 or 1974. That's my favorite period. In the concerts I saw, they weren't doing any improvisation which is what I really loved about the 1973-74 era.

A few new additions in bold:

7/19 - Procol Harum
8/7 - Soundgarden
8/13 - Queensryche staring Geoff Tate
9/6 - Spoon
9/11 - Kenny Wayne Shepherd
9/13 - King Crimson
9/14 - Ty Segall *
9/18 - Tom Petty
10/4 - Ian Anderson
10/30 - Paul McCartney
12/5 - Adrian Belew

* Ty Segall for those not familiar should check out one of his side projects, Fuzz. One of the best albums of the last 5 years IMO. Very big Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath influence.

I saw them in the 70's after Lizard came out with Boz on bass and then around the Starless and Bible Black time frame which is my favorite (not by much) line up, too. However, from a live stand point, I thought UK with Bruford, Wetton, Jobson, and Holdsworth kicked more butt mainly because Bruford and Wetton did what they wanted to do and didn't have to worry about pissing off Fripp.

I'm jealous that you saw K.C. twice in the '70's!

I would loved to have seen U.K. version 1 with Bruford and Holdsworth live. The live recordings from that period are very good.
