Recording WAV/FLAC 24 Bit 96Khz or 24 Bit 192Khz

What software do you guys use to record high quality audio and which of the two formats do you prefer? Thanks.

I use Audacity and record 96kHz/24-bit FLAC files. I can do 192kHz/24-bit audio but even compressed, the file size is quite large. I would not even bother with .wav because the files get very large and unwieldy to convert, move or use.

I use Adobe Audition for recording, and 24/96 unless I use 16/44.

I've been trying Cakewalk, Goldwave and Audacity for Windows 7. Audacity was the best for me. I've been doing recordings from LPs at 96kHz/24-bit WAV and 192khz/24-bit WAV files. The quality is very acceptable.

My portable player does not recognize the 192khz/24-bit WAV files; but I'm planing on building a computer for audio only with a couple of 4TB hard drives, 16GB of Memory, a good motherboard with a Xonar Essence STX sound card to feed my tube amplifier.

What type of source do you record from? LPs, Music keyboard, Regular piano, 24/96 digital streaming?
