Question Advice on potential Phono setup

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new member to the forum but a very frequent and longtime browser. I finally have my own place and now want a few toys for myself. Aside from a main A/V system for my TV/PC watching which I already have setup, I'd like advice on a phono setup. I have been reading a lot here and seemed to have come to a few conclusions but would still like your advice.

Right now I am looking at:

Turntable: Denon DP-300F or Audio-Technica AT-LP120
Amp: I really want a tube amp. I heard the YAQIN MC-13S at a friend's house and was very impressed. Any other options? I am open to anything under $700.
Preamp: NAD PP2e or PP2i
Speakers: I want to utilize my existing SVS Ultra Bookshelves which are already part of my A/V system since they have dual posts.

Anything else? Any comments? Please let me know!

Keep in mind, the room isn't huge and it is a condominium so I won't blast it super loud but want it to drive well. I listen to mostly classic rock (Zeppelin), and grunge (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc).

Any advice is greatly appreciated for this newbie!

Cheers!

Sounds like a nice set up you're planning. Have you given thought to a cartridge……. cabling, how 'bout your budget ?

Thanks for the feedback Twitch. In terms of cartridges, I was thinking about a Shure M97xE or maybe a Audio Technica AT120ET, but definitely open to suggestions.

Oh and for budget, let's keep it at around $1500ish (amp, preamp, tt, cables, etc).

Any other feedback is very much appreciated!

given your budget constraints the Shure should get you started in the right direction.

good cables for $$ spent……..Blue Jeans …… Signal Cables, to name but a couple.
