Probably a Dumb Question re: Grado Wood Body Phono Cart.

So I just switched my Music Hall Magik 3 for a Grado Reference Platinum 1, and its output seems very low. With the MH, the volume display was usually in the -22 to -25db range. Now it's up in the 0 to +5db. I still have room to go louder, but after years of negative volumes, it's a bit unnerving.

Is this due to the wood vs. plastic body, just the way Grado is, or did I mess something up in the setup?

Thanks.

Go look up the specs of both cartridges. Simple answer is that most likely the Grado has a lower output. Really doubt you did anything wrong.

AHA! I was wrong, it's the Statement cartridge, and it has a .5mV output vs. the Magic 3's 3.0mV.

Thanks, I was going nuts!
