The Beatles White album.

Also, Little Feat's Waiting For Columbus. The Who's Tommy and Quadrophenia. The list goes on.

No matter how many times I play Quadrophenia, it never gets old, not a single song. The only other double album that comes close in that regard is Waiting for Columbus.

Great album.
Back in the 70s in college I rolled millions of joints off the folded out inside cover of that album. Of course, if anyone asks I'll deny it.

Agreed, back then vinyl was carefully mixed and engineers well understood how to manage dynamic range. These productions are still a benchmark in quality.

Hard to pick just one. My favorites are:

  • The Beatles - The Beatles (White Album)
  • Tangerine Dream - Zeit
  • Pink Floyd - Ummagumma
  • The Who - Quadrophenia

I saw Frampton perform that album live a few months after it came out. Sounded exactly like the album...which makes sense.
