I felt compelled to share this demo material with all of you. (you may have to "save target as" to get it to work)

http://www.robwasserman.com/audio/duets/06-Duets.mp3

I can't find the right adjective(s) to describe this piece, but in a word, AWESOME!

If anyone else knows music like this PLEASE SHARE!

Between the bass and the vocals I think it's pretty good demo material. You might change your opinion if you heard it on a good pair of full range loudspeakers.

Thanks! There's a 20th anniversary edition hitting the shelves tomorrow, supposedly remastered. I might pick that up.

As an MP3?

You should purchase that entire Rob Wasserman disc ON CD if you like that.

I would be interested in this CD as well. It appears not many places have this CD to sell, as it is out of print. I assume you purchased from Amazon? If not, I would be interested in knowing where you did purchase it from.

I do have a couple albums from Jennifer Warnes, and do enjoy her. A few other female vocalists you may be interested in, and I'll list an album as well.

Artist/Album

Sara K-Hell Or Higher water

Madeleine Peyroux-Half The Perfect World

Dave's True Story-Sex Without Bodies

Eva Cassidy-Songbird. I also have to mention her "Live At Blue's Alley" album, very, very nice.

All the above albums I would consider "audiophile quality" albums.

Also, check E-bay for "Best Audiophile Voices". Very nice mix of various artists with great sound quality.

You may want to give Jane Monheit, Rebecca Pidgeon and Stacey Kent a listen as well.

This is my first venture into owning albums of any female recording artists. I really like the simplicity of the song. This coming from a guy with a majority of Rap and Classic Rock in his collection!

Yes, I picked it up from Amazon, from one of their third party sellers. Today I picked up Diana Krall's Live in Paris and Girl in the Other Room and Jennifer's Famous Blue Raincoat 20th Anniversary Ed. I just hope whatever speakers I decide on live up to their performances!

My next frontier is Frank Zappa!

Hey, did you ever find some speakers? I know you were looking for suggestions for floorstanders under $3K.

Yep, Jennifer Warnes has some nice stuff out there. I also use her "The Well" SACD for demo material. Nice vocals, good bass, and nicely recorded.

My favorite CD of hers though is The Hunter.

Like another person mentioned, her stuff sounds much better on a nice system. Over the typical PC speaker stuff you don't get a good feel for it.

This one is very nice: Eleanor McEvoy: Out There. Highly recommended.

I think there's someone in a dress on one of his album covers, but it's not Frank.

I missed your sarcasm the first time around. The first time I heard it was on CD.

Duets is a great CD for evaluating/tweeking subwoofer integration. A couple other excellent female vocalists w/ excellent recordings would be Holly Cole and Allison Krause.
