I mostly listen to classical music, so require pretty sound fidelity.

I have a computer runing iTunes shooting digital pcm through usb to a very good receiver.

Has anyone experienced using compression file to enjoy high fidelity classical music? what are the comparison between, mp3 @320, aac @256 or 320, apple lossless? what which bitrate do you hear the difference for AAC or MP3?

I think you will find more about audio compression at http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php
There are listening tests conducted there which may help you in your choice. However, for your own preferences it is better to conduct a listening test yourself.

If space (size) is not a concern, use a lossless format.
