Man I got the new Shelby Lynne CD, "Just A Little Lovin", a week ago and I can't stop playing it. The recording/mix is superb. Her voice just sits back off-center, crisp and clear. I was reading on her web-site that renowned recording engineer Al Schmitt was responsible for recording and mixing which makes since after you hear it. Apparently Al is responsible for many famous recordings including recent releases by Dianna Krall and just about every major music performer you can think of.

Thanks for the heads up. I enjoy her music but have found her earlier CDs to be less than great recordings. Will have to pick this one up and give it a spin.

westcoast, I purchased Just a little lovin about a month ago and like you thought it sounded great, big job singing Dusty songs but they sound great and I could listen to that voice all day. On my rc-70s, that rim shot on the first song is like you are right there. Have you ever heard Neko Case, Kim Richey, Carla Bonoff, or Mary Black?

I took a listen to bits of this album last night on her website, and went out today, to find the CD. I'm not a country music fan, so I had not heard of her before, but I was really impressed with this CD. Thanks for the heads up on this album

Her sister, Allison Moorer, has a new album, Mockingbird, which is a mix of originals and covers of folks like Patti Smith, Gillian Welch, Joni Mitchell and Kate McGarrigle. Really good stuff.

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.
