I am looking for some ideas on masking systems for my HT build.
Here are a few details of my theater room. The room is 11-0 x 17-0 with the screen planned on being on the 11 foot length section. Height to tray ceiling soffits is 93". The LCR speakers will be in-wall. I have not obtained a projector yet and have not made a screen yet. I am just finishing up all of my low voltage wiring with walls still open and just want to make sure there is nothing else I need to change/add before the walls get covered up in a few weeks.
Ideally, I want 2.35, 1.85 for most of my actual movie viewing. 16:9 for TV and Wii and PS3 gaming. And possibly even some 4:3 for some of the kidsy fullscreen movies we have. I am not considering a DIY screen setup with a false wall ... mostly because I want to conserve space in the room and I know my rowdy kids will end up going through the screen somehow. My budget does not allow for a commercial screen or commercial masking system.
I am therefore looking at doing a painted screen directly on the wall or a laminate screen like WilsonArt DW.
What masking options or ideas do people have for that type of setup?
Would it help to build some box columns on the sides and use the tray ceiling soffit above for any solutions?
