I hope to totally overhaul my home theater in the near future. My goals are:
If I was buying a projector today, I'd probably go with the Epson 8350 - but it doesn't have vertical stretch, so I'm looking at doing that in the HTPC. My questions...
- 10~12' wide DIY 2.4:1 screen
- DIY masking system (probably using a simple motorized drapery controller and floor-to-ceiling curtains)
- DIY anamorphic lens
- HD-HTPC
- 1080P projector
If I was buying a projector today, I'd probably go with the Epson 8350 - but it doesn't have vertical stretch, so I'm looking at doing that in the HTPC. My questions...
- In addition to using the HTPC to vertically stretch cinemascope content, is there some way I can manipulate other source material with varying aspect ratios so that the anamorphic lens can be left in place all the time? (OK, most of the time - I'd still have to disengage it for sources other than the HTPC.)
- Is my receiver (an Onkyo TX-SR607) going to have a fit about these strangely stretched/distorted video signals I'll be routing through it?
