Bit of a strange one this..

I've a 10' wide 2.35 screen but fancy a change, I was thinking of building some kind of 2:1 type of screen as I'd like to have a larger 4:3 image (no I don't want to sit closer ) It would still be 10' wide but would now be considerably taller.

So I was wondering if I do build this new screen I'd have to implement a 4 way masking system which is not much of a problem, the question is - do I still build a curved screen in order to reduce the effects of pin cushion and if so, do the normal rules of curvature apply. Last time out I recall using Aussie Bobs very help calculator which did all of the math for me.

I definitely want to keep the lens as it allows me to have a really wide scope image outside of the normal throw capabilities of my projector.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you are still using an Anamorphic Lens for Scope, then yes.

Thanks for your input CAVX.

Yes the Anamorphic lens will be staying, for me personally it's the AV equivalent of crack cocaine. I'd sell the car before I sell the lens..

Right, off to build my new screen and hopefully not screw it up.

Good to hear you are keeping the lens. This will be an interesting thread and I shall watch it with interest.

Subscribed.
As I'm going AT screen in 2014/15-ish, along with PJ upgrade then, I'd do this also.
Bigger is better, 130" curved 2.35 I have now, so this would gain me for the sporting events watching stuff.

It's been 1 month, any progress to share?

This DIY sub-forum seems too quiet lately.

I'm almost afraid to say it, but it seems too many place DIY in the too hard basket.
