Hi guys,


What is the purpose of me having a 2.40 curved screen when the anamorphic lens only expands up to 2.35. I've to zoom in a little and have overspill image on the top and bottom because it couldn't fill the width completely.

Movies that are in 2.39 AR, how do I actually have the right image project out. If i set the anamorphic mode in my projector, doesn't it cropped everything to 2.35 , then what's the whole purpose of it?

Say if i do not have enough clearance height for my projector and I tilted up the projector, definitely it would introduce geometry error but It ain't obvious enough until I placed the lens and aggravate the problem and the projected image top left and right top edges are curved up. Is my thoery correct?

I'm on budget setup using optoma HD20 with about 3.3m (i guess) distance to the screen.

A properly designed 1.33x A-lens will actually give you a 2.37:1 AR. This does not take into account grid distortion (which gets worse with shorter throws) which can cause the AR to be beyond 2.40. The curved screen will provide some optical compression and can counter the effects of GD.

You can't do anything about 2.39/2.40:1 transfers as the encode itself does not allow 100% of the black bars to be removed during the scaling. It is one of those things we must simply except.

not 2.35? last time i read your thread but you mentioned 1.33 * 1.77 = 2.35..

For cases like an external video processor can electronically zoom the picture slightly to fill the whole screen. Alternately one can zoom in either in the vertical or horizontal dimension to eliminate the small bars or pillars on a 2.39:1 transfers with a slight amount of geometric distortion. This is one of the advantages to having a video processor.

Sorry for the bump.

The correct is 1.3333333333333333 * 1.7777777777777777 = ~2.37 (2.37:1).

I added decimals just to make it a bit more accurate.
