It seems that many people are using their USB hard drives with the latest USB 2.0 enabled divx/dvd players. I haven't seen too much talk about USB sticks. I am thinking about getting an 8 or 16 GB stick. Do movies play just as well and fluidly from USB sticks. I vaguely remembering trying to play a movie from a USB stick on a pc, and the USB stick would stop responding after a short time. Is there a specific type of USB stick I should get, or do they all work just the same? Can anyone confirm successfully using a USB stick to play movies?

It would work the same except that the size comparison is a lot smaller for the sticks!

You'll want the fastest thumb drive you can get. I had a DVD drive (Phillips) equipped with USB but found it took longer to write a 4gig thumb drive than a DVD-R so I gave up on the idea. I did not try with an external HDD drive but I think it would work.

I do think that if the USB could be used to mount a huge external drive then it would be good. I believe the write speed of thumb drives is much slower then the read speed.
