Hi,

My questions are below the level of the FAQ's responses, so that clearly makes me a newbie :-)

I need to buy a DVD/VCR that I can hook up to my Toshiba HDMI LCD. I only need to play, not record.

1. Do I buy a DVD/VCR with or without a tuner? What is the tuner's function?
2. I have Basic Cable and am not using HDMI. When I connect my (new) DVD/VRC player, will I use HDMI or the standard RCA connectors?
3. Any opinion on Toshiba DVR 660 1080P?

I am grateful for any help.

If you do not plan on recording then you don't need a tuner. However, all of the DVD/VCR combo units that I have seen have a tuner. The HDMI is used only for up-conversion or for HI-DEF in the case of a blu-ray player so you will most likely be using composite(standard RCA) connections. I don't recall seeing any DVD/VCR units with HDMI.
