I know this is an old player.

I know I'm an old member. Haven't been around in a long time. But this thing has really got me buggered.

I got this a few years ago from an employee of a local high-end A/V store as a demo unit. It worked great initially, mainly used as a CD player, and only sparingly as that. It worked great.

Packed away after a few months and recently unearthed it started out ok but has quickly developed problems opening the tray and occasionally reading discs.

Cracking the case and watching the opening and closing process still left me clueless, not that that's difficult. I've dealt with banded opening mechanisms before without much challenge, but this thing has rods and not much else. Much more heavy duty and complicated than anything I've seen.

Any thoughts on what's going on? I'd love to salvage this player. It's well built and sounds great.

I'm no expert, but maybe it just needs some cleaning and lubrication.
