Yamaha DV-C6760 not saving settings

I need some help with an old Yamaha DVD/SACD player I am using for CD/SACD playback. Mo. DV-C6760

Any audio settings I change (stereo instead of pro logic ii, upsampling on instead of off) are reset each time I change disc. I am wondering if it has a battery that might be responsible for settings memory somewhere.

Another question: If I am unable to change this, it will always default to pro logic ii when it changes to a new disc. I can live without the upsampling, but I was wondering if there is any negative affect to the soundstage ect. when it is upmixed by the player then downmixed in the 2 ch output.

Thanks for the help.

Here is your manual: https://content.abt.com/documents/5803/DVC6760_om.pdf

These settings changes, are you making them in the Audio setup menu or the sound mode button on the remote?
Do you have speakers connected directly to this unit or are you going through a receiver? If you are going through a receiver, what connection are you using?

Making the changes in the audio sub menu. Have tried while the disc was loaded and during a full stop (hitting stop twice). Speakers are connected to a receiver and then analog RCA to the 2ch downmix output on the unit.

I honestly hear no difference between the different sound modes from the 2ch downmix though. I am thinking that this output skips this processing anyway.
