JVC S9800U VHS VCR problem

Here's the problem I'm having with my VCR. A replacement will cost about $400 on ebay. This is one of the best for making transfers, which is why I'm using it. Any advice?

There is a belt on the bottom side that controls the idler assembly that turns the tape hubs to pull it in while the capstans come back. It is slipping, you can hear it in the video. It could also be the idler assembly which moves the gear you see on the top from one hub to the other depending on the direction you want to run the tape. You should also be having issues FF at the beginning or with RW when at the end.
