If you are having i-link issues you need to let Denon know so they can work them out!!!

In fact a few discs that had awfull MB with the A11/5900 are not even visible with the 3910.

So far for me only disneys Tarzan has an issue and only in lowlite scenes.

MY PROBLEM however is with I-link and my pioneer AX10i amp.(59txi)

So far it seems SACD is fine, but movies are dropping sound. about every 2-3mins i loose sound for a quarter second(its that short, more like a snap). it dosent matter if its DTS or DD. I just cant figure it out as my SACD played absolutly fine. the Amp setup with no problems-same with the dvd player.

anyone got a clue to this??????

Does anyone else with i-link have the same issue(pioneer user)
Have you had a chance to try DVD-Audio? If so, is it working ok?

Have you tried both FORMAT 1 and FORMAT 2 in the setup menu? Not sure if this has anything to do with it but it says FORMAT 1 is for use with a Denon device in the manual.

Format one might be the Denon proprietary encryption that they referred to when the 5900 first came out. This may be causing the issue but I have no way to tell.

Just to clarify for myself, the IEEE1394 fix for the 5900 fixes it to a standard IEEE1394 interface and can be used supposedly with any product that also utilizes a IEEE1394 input, is this correct? And this inteface will pass all forms of audio?

Thanks,

Jim

gandley,

I have had the EXACT same problem with movies dropping sound. In my case, the dropouts would increase in frequency once they started - so that soon there was a dropout every 5 to 10 seconds. I also had NO problems with SACD.

The only difference is that I am using a Yamaha RX-Z9!! I think that this might be a problem in some 3910's and not with any receiver. Another person on another forum stated he had problems with SACD's but not movies (over firewire). He exchanged units and I think everything is OK right now.

I am also on my second 3910, having just sent my 1st back to Crutchfield today. They cross-shipped me another unit, and it is playing movies as we speak to make sure it has no problems. So far, so good after a couple of hours. You might try to obtain another unit and see if you can resolve the problem that way. BTW, I purchased an extended warranty from Crutchfield. Might not hurt to have one with this unit!

Let us know ...

Mike

Is it likely that interlaced will be supported on HDMI with a firmware update... or is that upgrade only possible with a hardware mod?

Hi all

I-link issues fixed.

Uninstalled 3910, blew out connections, reinstalled and hey presto all is fine.

Have noticed only one problem. bugs life still drops sound via DD but if i swap to its DTS mix then all is fine. tried a whole bunch of other films and all were perfect.

So not sure whats up with bugs life as the pio868i had no issues wth this and DD.

Changing to format 1/2 makes no oddes either

Cool, Gandley. I picked up a 3910 tonight and used the i.Link output for DVD movie audio for maybe an hour with no problems.

What do you mean when you say 'uninstalled'? :)

We now 're-boot' things like processors so i guess it was only a matter of time before we uninstall too.

:D

Gandley, have you tried DVD-Audio at all yet?
