It plays all burnable formats, even the $0.20 per dvd+rs. You need to slow the burn down to 4x though. With higher quality media 8x-16x is OK.
Macroblocking is minimal, I noticed no pinkness in the Hulk sand dune scene. This was done on a 40 inch LCD TV.

To me, motion seems smooth as butter, I cannot comment on the audio quality as the testing was done via the default speakers. It seemed normal. (I'm also not a audiophile)
