Just buy one from somebody with a 30day return policy, try the code, and then send the unit back. Either that, take the remote to your dealer and try it while they're not looking. :)

I have got maybe three non region 1 movies that I would watch....and with me being an early BR adopter....I won't be buying anymore real soon.
Unless of course....you want to sell me that Super bit Gladiator for like 30.00 Larry....then it might be worth my effort :D

What's to lose? Can a remote hack cripple a player and void a warranty? If not then mine is still under warranty. I'll do it but don't have any non R1 titles. Anyone willing to lend me one?

I don't have many non-R1 titles, but there are some that are worth getting - like the one you mention. :) I never thought about the implications of region encoding and HD. I guess they won't change. But hell, the hack is free. What's the problem? :)

Anyone with any good sources as to what and when new FW is release for either the
DVD player DV1000 or Integra RDC 7.1 ??

Im using 1.09 for RDC 7.1 and 1.23 for DV1000....,,
Would be gr8 to know,, and if possible, to get newer versions as they come..

And,, regarding the RegFree mod,, at least one of the intrested who's PM'ed me has done it, and it seems to work just as good on the US model.

I downloaded the instructions for code-free, but haven't picked up a programable remote to give it a try.

Been too busy...sorry. ;)

Do you get a complementary AVS Gold Member status so you can access the secret areas? :)

I don't want to reopen any old wounds (walking on eggshells...) -- but did Onkyo ever come up with a fix for the lip-synch problem?

Yes. We recommend watching dubbed titles or using the analog delay feature.

Actually, moderators do have access. But, I've only been there a couple times. The coolest part is having access to the forum where all the reported posts get logged. But even then I get there too late and all the good stuff has been deleted. :)

I am stunned that (seemingly) no Integra dealer has coughed up yet.

In this day and age where every sub $200 DVD player is region free out of the box, denying onkyo/Integra owners region free access is reprehensible.

It would be like toilet manufacturers demanding you empty turds by hand whilst the rest of the world has moved on to automated flushing.

After at least 6 months mine (DPS10.5) still plays American, Australian and European discs sans problems and it was all done with a few codes punched in via a special remote.

And (at the risk of cursing myself) the lip synch issue hasn't reared it's ugly head which may be related to the two weeks I yelled at my unit with every blasphemy known to man.
