An AV guy in Thailand told me that Denon 3910 has superior picture to Pioneer DV-989AVi-G !!!

This guy also supports using compenent cables for video rather than using HDMI.

Actually, this is 2 topics. Or should I separate the topics ?

Yes and no. IMO, yes the Denon is better, as long as you don't get macroblocking with your display (the Denon 3930 is even better, and has no MB). No, HDMI is the better way to go (it does not upscale over component, and the denon is great over HDMI).
