FWIW, I just got a black RP91 today and it has a date stick on back that says "June 2001" - is the firmware update available anywhere yet for these "older" players made before August 2001? Thanks.
RP91 latest firmware is H088 50G227. To check what version you have, just press Stop, Pause, Open/Close button at the same time with one hand and then press 7 on remote control with your other hand. Look at last 3 digits. I have the latest firmware on disc.
That sequence works for me to display firmware revision. I have the latest. I also noticed pressing #9 on remote initiates a quick led/display check (ie. everything possible lights up).
OK, CKNA, do you have any idea what all the test modes do (number 1-6 on remote?
Also, I take it by your statement that RP-91 firmware can be upgraded via a special disc (rather than EEPROM programming or replacement)? That's good to know for future reference.
I have G155 manufacturing date of April, 2001. The pic is let shift by 1" on my 65807. Could some one tell me how to update the firmware??? Need help please.
I can upload iso image if somebody will provide space for it.
It needs about 22MB.
Panasonic provides DVD recovery disc which is listed in service manual. In reality it is a firmware disc. Anybody can order it for $10 but the one they send right now only has 188 firmware.
I have 227 firmware because I downloaded it from actual player.
CKNA, do you just burn a CD with the image & pop it in? I've done firmware upgrades on Apex DVD players that way & was wondering if it's a similar procedure for the RP91.
CKNA, Do you have an answer for us about the latest RP91 firmware and how to do update it? I am willing to provide some space on the web for people to download the firmware image.
