Hey guys,

Since the Oppo 970 is pretty much impossible to find these days (except maybe ebay), I've narrowed my choice of upconverting players to either the Philips DVP5982 or Sony DVPNS78H (canadian version of the 77H I think). What would you guys prefer?

PQ is obviously high priority, and the player would need to be able to play divx. USB connection is not that important, and optical audio isn't important either. There is a $20 difference between the two, so price is a non-issue.

It will be connected to a Toshiba 44nhm84 DLP. Its a bit old-school, so it doesn't have HDMI, only DVI.

Thanks in advance

Philips is hackable to region free via remote codes. Both uses Mediatek chipset so both should have very similar PQ. Sony will be better build with better support for a little more cost.
