It appears that Beasts Of No Nation isn't in 4K. Surprising considering that most Netflix originals are in 4K.

Not really, since Beasts is a movie and not a series.

The Categories option takes you to a genre listings screen with primary genres listed in a column- much like Netflix's Android app, with two rows with 5 titles each displayed under the large thumbnail picture. Scrolling these rows is up/down, not across as under the main UI. There were more than 40 rows of titles under Action alone, which will make casual surfing/ discovery much faster than before. Redundantly, the Genre list can now also be found under the Search box, prior to typing in a title or actors name.

The Samsung tv must not have the processesor power to handle the new Auto start feature that is being slowly rolled out. Checking the PS3, which I don't use for Netflix much anymore, both features are now present on it's Netflix app. The Auto start feature starts playback of an episode or movie once you select it, with the details column overlaid onscreen, slowly fading out as the title plays.

I welcome the addition- or return, if you remember previous iterations of the Netflix UI, of broader genre selections on a dedicated page. As commented on in early posts, the Auto start function would work best if it could be manually activated for those that may like it, or turned off for those that wouldn't.

Spoiler!
A further refinement of the Categories option- it now has it's own row on the UI. Now it would be nice, as michaelscott mentioned a couple weeks ago, if they would add My List to it as well. C'mon Netflix technical design team, Go!

Wasn't My List there in the past? Or has it only been at the Netflix site? It's annoying not to have that on the device(TV,TiVo, etc) that you use to actually watch the content on.

My List is in the browser, but it's not a "category"; categories can be displayed such that they're the only thing on the screen. I like the new line of categories on the main browser dialog.

I see it now, I need to remember to Up Arrow instead of always pressing down, I thought it had been removed.

I also like the category line as well. I haven't spent much time on Netflix lately as the fall TV season is in full swing but given the rather poor offerings this time around I'll be back Netflix'ing very soon!

My List will be moved down to the very last row on the UI if you never use it to select titles to play from. Another irritating change made for the Netflix standard UI- I'd really wish a dialog could be had with the design team, I am truly interested in hearing their rationale for many of the choices that they make. Not to holler or whine at them, but just sit down and talk about why they feel some of the design elements implemented, are better to them than others that get removed.

I am quoting myself incase anybody else screws them selves like I did.

I hopped on chat with customer service and he quickly reversed my subscription so I am now back on the $7.99 with 4k content plan. lucky they didn't tell me there's no going back like ATT would have on data plans.

That was very nice of them. Had you actually streamed a 4K title from Netflix prior to 15 October 2014? If not, it was really nice of them. The "grandfathering" was so that they wouldn't charge people who'd already used their 4K content more to continue to use it.

I'm very happy with the older UI which I have on my Pansonic TV. The new one on my wife's Roku isn't as user friendly. If it ain't broke why fix it?

Unfortunately, change for the sake of change seems to be the way things are nowadays. My phone forced me to upgrade to the latest version of Android when I was perfectly happy with it as-is. What did it get me? Some new colors and design elements and a loss of 500MB of storage on the phone. Gee, thanks.

I don't see that on my set, and it claims it is the latest version. When was the client updated with Categories? My JU7100 just received updated firmware a couple of weeks ago, and I just checked the apps last night and nothing needed updating. Can you tell me the version number of the Netflix app you have?

It wouldn't be part of any firmware update. The Netflix app is primarily written in Javascript which they download dynamically at start up. This approach gives them a higher degree of control of their app since they don't need firmware updates to make huge modifications.

OK, the Netflix app on mine has a version number as 5.something or other. Must not be comparable across TV models.

What type of set up do you have? HT in a box system, sound bar, or pre-pro? I assume you're using the optical output? What are your settings? Should be set to Auto not PCM. More info please.

I have vizio M 70 with a denon 4200w avr; and 5.1 setup.. I run an HDMI cable from my tv to my AVR (monitor output ARC) then i run my blu ray player into my denon with an hdmi cable... when i steam 5.1 netflix content via my blu ray player the 5.1 works fine with all speakers, but when i steam directly from my TV i only get front ; left output.... SO i guess i'll only use my blu ray player for streaming.

I'm unfamiliar with the Vizio menu options, but my guess is something in the TV audio section could be changed. I have 5.1 DD with no problem from my Samsung TV to my Yamaha AVR via either optical or ARC.

Why not use the optical out to your Denon AVR? It's a simple hookup and it works. It will pass DD rather then DD plus, but the sound quality is the same. It just doesn't support 7.1 which is fine, since most surround content is only streamed in 5.1 Just remember to set the TV to Auto and not PCM.

Anyone here uses the Steam Manager on Windows 10 Store version of Netflix?

Since the 10/1 update Netflix CTD whenever I bring up the Stream Manager and select a bit rate. This is only with the Windows App and not web browsers but 5.1 sound is supported only with the App. I have a decent but very erratic Internet connection and without the Stream Manager I am usually stuck at 1750 bit rate streaming quality when I can easily do 3000 or 4800 with it.

Had a chat with Netflix "support", the courteous lady effectively nodded at my complaint and said wait for future update and emailed me links about how to output 5.1 sound to AV receiver. Not sure if she understood what I was asking.

Windows 10 Netflix app is the worse of the worse. It takes over a minute to buffer and it starts out like mud then takes up to a minute to get to HD.

Alas, I don't directly own any Netflix shares but I do have quite a bit invested in an S&P 500 index fund. It has been doing well. To the extent Netflix's recent performance has contributed to that, I'm grateful.

Can anyone tell me what one hour of Netflix top tier 1080p uses bandwidth wise (is it 3.5gigs)? Trying to eval data options going forward considering how many episodes I could watch month.

Thanks.
