The first four seasons of Chuck were great! (I rated them 4 enthusiastic stars on the Netflix 5-star scale). The fifth season wasn't so great. (I rated Season 5 at 3 stars.) I'd consider it a gem!

I had to go look up the title by the lead actor, so I copied that link. My bad.

!!!! I started Chuck last year, and am nowhere near finished. I just can't binge watch stuff. I can't take more than a handful of episodes at a time no matter how much I like a show.

I usually don't binge watch but I went through Breaking Bad in less than two weeks. I couldn't stop watching it.

I also watch the series when it was on TV. One of the most annoying aspects about the final season or two were several blatant 'commercials' embedded into the show for a car company (I remember one where Chuck is talking about using some of it's features, by name). Alot of the Subway sandwich and other stuff was also very annoying and distracting. (Two episodes of NatGeo's "Brain Games" this season has also had blatant Acura ads as part of the show.)

I'm glad for the IMDB link, because I generally go there to look for reviews by critics I know before adding the item to my Netflix queue based on recommendations here from people I don't know.

i agree, i prefer the critics' review on IMDB. Only complaint with IMDB is that when i need to copy the movie's dvd jacket cover image, you can't unless you print the whole page in adobe pdf and then crop down to it. Time costly

My Star Trek Deep Space Nine rewatch started 2 years ago. I've made it up to the early part of season 4 so far!

I binge watch a lot, sadly. I went through all seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager in about a month, 129 hours in all. According to my Netflix account viewing activity log, I started watching it on 3 July and finished on the 11th of this month. I'm doing DS9 now, but the story doesn't begin that compellingly. There's no actual dilemma, just a situation. I recall that it gets more interesting as it goes along.

I use a Chrome extension called Netflix Enhancer; it might be available for other browsers, I don't know (EDIT: the developer's website says Chrome and Opera with Firefox coming). It adds links to the IMDb rating and the Rotten Tomatoes critics and audience ratings (it displays the numbers and icons you left-click to go to the title's page on IMDb or RT) to the title's page on Netflix's site and to the mouse-over pop-ups in the site's browser. It also sometimes adds a little movie camera icon linking to a trailer.

If you use Chrome, you can right click anywhere (except the image) and select "Inspect Element". From there you can either navigate through the HTML code (it helpfully highlights the part of the page the selection affects), or just go to the Resources tab and scroll through the images. Depends on the page, the HTML is easier if there are a lot of ads and small images, or the Resources tab is easier if there are only a few images. I usually open the image in a new tab to verify it before I save anything, either by copying the <_img_> reference or by right clicking on the image in Resources and selecting "Open Image in New Tab". You get accustomed to where the image code resides in the HTML if you save a lot of pictures from the same site like ShirtWoot or instagram.

Firefox has a similar function (probably had it first).

Keep watching, My old friend and former professor Avery Brooks (Captain Sisco) was in that series. I hope he's still getting residuals.

I never realized that Avery Brooks was an actual teacher (at Rutgers, I see in his IMDb bio); I recall that he played a high school principal in the excellent American History X .

Me either. I am watching Alias and Lost now and I just can't watch more than one episode a night even though I like the shows. I did once watch 2 episodes of Alias but I was tired of it by then. For me it is one episode a night and that's it. I do usually finish the shows in about 2 to 3 months even though when I get towards the end I don't watch it as much. I stopped watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer because season 6 is so depressing and boring however the earlier seasons were great though. Instead I am on Charmed which I watch nearly every night now on Season 5 which isn't as depressing.

Saw episode one of "Happy Valley" and Robert Rodriguez's TV series "From Dusk till Dawn" last night. "Happy Valley" is another British import from Channel 4. I'm guessing Hollywood thinks that US viewers don't like network shows shot on tight budgets but must lose money when they cancel shows before the season is finish so it makes no sense. I prefer shows long on story and acting skills and not filled with fluff and glitz.

"From Dusk till Dawn" carries on Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" style and feels sometimes like you are watching a 1980s TV show. Good stuff.

not a netflix gem but a comcast one, "2 GUNS" (Denzel Washington & Mark Wahlberg). Storyline is about a DEA agent and another law enforcement agent & the cartels. Definitely a different, and actually pretty close to reality gritty crime drama - action packed, both washington & wahlberg give great performances, and the story line keeps your attention but definitely no heavy lifting to watch

i'd give it a 4.5 stars easy

We must have different tastes - I couldn't make it through this one - dumb story line, gratuitous violence - boring.

gratuitous violence is a plus for me, plus it's a storyline that hasn't been hacked to death, sharetv ranks it 5 stars out of five and imdb rates it 6.8 out of 10

it's only entertainment, and for me it fulfilled it's mission

I know the feeling. I did the same thing with "The Newsroom" on HBOGO. Couldn't stop watching it! BTW, Big kudos to Brian Cranston & the entire Breaking Bad crew for their wins at the recent Emmys. For me, Breaking Bad was the absolute best TV series I've had the pleasure to watch. Perfection comes to mind. That final episode was excellent in everyway, down to the last moments with Bad Finger's song "Baby Blue" playing in the background.
