When I put in the queue it was 4+ stars. Folks not into subtitles probably downed it a bit.
I know what you mean. Lots of folks don't like a subtitled movie. I think they are missing out on a lot of great foreign flicks. When I first watched "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", I inadvertently ordered the original Swedish version with foreign actors & subtitles. Later, I rented the the newer English version of Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig in the male lead. I like Daniel Craig, but still I have to say that I liked the original Swedish version of the movie better.
"Caught in the Web" will give you an idea of how lavish life is in China these days. It's about a young woman who refuses to give her bus seat up to an older man and is caught on a phone camera video which gets broadcasts on an evening TV show. Though listed as a drama it becomes a bit of a dark comedy.
I watched this movie and enjoyed it.
Another way of looking at it ......is how a persons life can be destroyed in today's world of video camera's and how the media plays a big part in it ,just to get hits on their website.

To give his students a real-world example of how dictatorships can grow powerful, a high school teacher starts a social experiment that gives some of his students a strong advantage while leaving others subservient and powerless.
Don't know if it will be a gem or not, but there's a new Netflix series, Marco Polo:
"Marco Polo" is an epic adventure that follows the early years of the famous explorer as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the great Kublai Khan’s court. But Marco soon finds that navigating the Khan’s world of greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry will be his greatest challenge yet, even as he becomes a trusted companion to the Khan in his violent quest to become the Emperor of the World.
Thus far, there is only a trailer. Fairly cool looking historical costume drama. The first season goes up on December 12th; I wonder if it will include 4K encodes (EDIT: it will be a 4K title according to this blog post).
I watched "Heatstroke" the other night and it's not bad .. for the longest time, I sat there racking my brain on who was playing the daughter .. until finally it dawned on me it was Maisie Williams / Arya Stark .. at any rate, it's worth a watch, even though it's a basic plot we've seen many times ..
It's been a show that I've always thought I'd like, but with the wealth of worthwhile programming these days, it always got shuffled to the end of the list .. time is so limiting ..
Pretty much the only live tv in this house is sports. We stay about 6-8 weeks behind on DVR stuff, so its nice having large HDD's and Netflix streaming. I dont ever feel pressured to watch something, just get to it when I can.
