While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, speaking for myself, having been an itinerate musician back in the 1960's/early '70's, I found "Austin to Boston" an excellent documentary with wonderful music and a modern take on the Traveling Minstrel .. I'd recommend it ..

The Little Prince. If you haven't read or don't love the book, I can't recommend it at all. Otherwise, I can only give a tepid recommendation. The problem is that since there isn't enough material for a feature film, they wrapped another story around it. The parts taken from the book were done with stop motion animation, and they are beautiful and what you imagine the book "brought to life" would be. Unfortunately, that is only like 20 minutes running time scattered through the first half of the movie. The rest is 3D animation and the framing story is pretty bad.

If they had just covered the whole book and made like a half hour movie with the same stop animation, I think it would have been beautiful. But as it is, this movie has extraneous stuff that fans of the book wouldn't like and non book readers would just find boring. If you are curious, I recommend fast forwarding through the movie and just watching the parts where the little prince appears.

Watched and enjoyed The Confirmation last night. A dark comedy with Clive Owen in a role I've not seen him take on before. Recommended.

I also see Jane Got a Gun with Natalie Portman was recently added as well although I haven't seen it yet.

If you can get past the "canned" laugh track, I found "The Ranch" to be quite entertaining on both the comic and serious levels.

"Sky" with Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus is good set in the Mojave movie. "The Midnight After" is a dark comedy set in Hong Kong after a group riding a bus find that the city is empty.

And now for something completely different....

What would happen if you were a member of the cast of the reality show Big Brother, locked inside the BB house, and the zombie apocalypse broke out? And the producers kept the broadcast going?

That's the setup of this 5 episode British import, Dead Set, added Sept 1 on Netflix.

Dazed and confused over high tech.

Have to add White God (Fehér Isten), Kornél Mundruczó makes a very deep parallel to Hungarian society. Needless to say only pure breeds allowed, the the canine version of the Warsaw Uprising ends the movie with a peaceful moment before the inevitable. I swear they must have photoshoped those dogs, their expressions are profoundly revealing in every context.

Brilliant work by another Béla Tarr student. Just like in the Turin Horse, words are not much needed for a skillful cinematographer to create art.

I have now watched the first two episodes of Season 2 of Narcos. The season is off to a terrific start. The show seems not to have lost a step. I should add that its UHD, 4K, video is wonderful, at least as good as BD quality and maybe a touch better. Not so long ago I wouldn't have believed a streaming service could do that.

Yes, PQ on Season 2 was fantastic .. story wise I think it beat Season One .. timeline speed has also moved into a higher gear .. NF hit a Home Run with this and Wagner Moura continues to do an excellent job .. in fact, the whole cast is great ..

I could not get through it fast enough .. and now I want to watch it again .. maybe sandwich that in with a re-watch of "Stranger Things" ..

The Call Up proved to be a nifty little yarn, nothing new or ground breaking, but was worth the watch.
