I just noticed that Drive is available.
This is one of my favorite movies in recent times and it was generally loved by the critics and fans alike (92% rotten tomatoes).

Now try The Driver, with another Ryan in the starring position...but was only available on disc. I liked both, but think the "original" was a bit better.

Heard of it, never really checked it out but briefly now after your post. Don't see it being particularly useful as I already kinda keep tabs what's available on the services I'm subscribed to...

Being an Amazon Prime sub, I like to use TVandMoviesNow.com, which can filter on 5.1 sound and will also report any matches in Amazon when I'm searching Netflix (and vice versa). Sometime Netflix has what I'm looking for, but Amazon also has it as Prime VOD in HD and/or 5.1 sound when the Netflix version doesn't have those features. (I also tested and made copious suggestion while forum member Ranger One, TechoftheHub.com blogger, developed it).

Junkyard Dog is a fairly decent thriller with Vivica A Fox and Brad Dourif.

Recently added to Netflix is the 2011 Korean film War of the Arrows. It has just enough plot to explain the story, the rest is wonderfully filmed kinetics pretty much from start to finish. The HD PQ is very good. It is reminiscent of Apocalypto in many ways, so if you liked that one, you may like this one as well. Not a deep or surprising film, but definitely keeps the heart racing.

Be warned; the dialogue is in Korean and Mongolian, so subtitles are the order of the day.

I took your tip and tried it. Not much of Brad Dourif for the credit given but I guess that's just Hollywood. Innis Casey was nice and creepy. High art it wasn't but I didn't turn it off...

British Special Forces is duped in a terrorist plot with parallel gang violence stream.

An audiophile likes to talk about how much they spent and how good it sounds.

A DIY'er likes to talk about how little they spent and how good it sounds.

"The United States of Tara" is an interesting series for anyone interested. Its a fictional show about a Mom with multiple personality disorders and how it effects her life as well as her kids/husband. Quite entertaining in my opinion. Lots of ups and downs and twists and turns, as well as a lot of good laughs.

Really? I thought it was horrible honestly. Of course, I'm a "gearhead" and was hoping/expecting for a lot more car stuff... not like Fast and Furious stuff, but more like Gone in 60 Seconds.

After watching The Immortals on BD the other night I went looking for other stuff by the director, and found The Fall that can be streamed. Very interesting fantasy film, good cast, great costumes and visuals throughout, really enjoyed it.

French globetrotter thriller, awesome acting, always the sentimentalist angle in all things, from love scene to killings, we had a great night, i knew it would be good for the anal-ists on Netflix to rate it 4 stars:

As a physician and FMG just like my fellow countryman Dr. George Udvarhelyi portrayed as Carson's teacher, this one impressed me like few other med related movies, i would never miss a C Gooding or M Freeman movie for the life of me, just love their acting in any role.

London Boulevard is a fairly decent film with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley. You may have to turn up the volume though because of the accents.

SciFi redeemed, low budget Mexican movie shines through with depth of thought and great acting, the future is immigrants getting hooked up to nodes by coyoteks and operating remote robots, while the Military Industrial Complex ruthlessly exploits global resources killing everything that stands in the way. Water theft is "terrorism" punished by death, while the media brainwashes the fat imbibed couch potatoes stateside following the well known to all of us scenario.

Alex Rivera recreated a 21st century Metropolis, i bow to his genius.

Are subtitles an option on Netflix? I've never looked...but I needed to use subtitles on my dvd of Snatch....and there are even subtitles in Pikey if you want

Subtitles are hit and miss, but are appearing in increasing numbers. Just this week, I found it especially useful while watching Downton Abby with my parents. (Hardwood floors and a vaulted ceiling make for a great echo chamber!)

Subtitles are only available on a subset of titles (Netflix claims that they're now available for 80% of their most played titles), but that subset does include London Boulevard. Not every Netflix player is capable of displaying subtitles when they are available. Roku 2, PS3, Xbox, TiVo and many of the 2011 and 2012 devices have players which can display subs/captions.

I love that "Pikey come again?" subtitle option on the Snatch discs which only displays subtitles when Brad Pitt's character speaks in his way-over-the-top accent . Sadly, the option's not available on Netflix's stream (they're set up to support multiple sets of subtitles so they could have done it ).

Ha ha. I was a kid in the early 70s when it originally aired on TV. It seemed really weird and surreal even to a kid back then. Looking back on it now, geez, gotta say it sure looks like some writers and producers of kids' shows dropped a lot of acid.

But, truly, is it any more bizarre than a sponge who lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the sea? Is it???

I think that many great children's shows creators seem to have been possibly inspired by recreational medication .

For more fun, at least according to Wikipedia, there is an animated musical version of Lidsville (available on disk, but not streaming) in production (another Sid & Marty Kroft production.)

I prefer to think some can still retain their imagination from childhood, I know I came up with much weirder stuff than that as a kid. Nothing against recreating, helps one remove the layers of crap adulthood brings on... smile.gif

More a "find" than a "gem" but I found Messages Deleted with Matthed Lillard and Deborah Kara Unger interesting. Lillard plays a failed screenplay writer who teach screen writing who finds one of his rejected serial killer scripts coming to life. The film teaches points about screen writing in the process.

Great movie, slow to pick up initially, but worth watching, an Ozzie western of sorts, my only
critique is the scene with the hero covered in blood holding his guts in with right hand in front
seemingly serene pregnant wife. The cruelty of these desperate people is bone chilling, and the
robotic precision of the killings never shadows the great acting by all the main characters:
