I'm one of people who likes them on all the time as well, as long as they're properly positioned. (Not many things worse than captions covering people's faces).

(Seconded). Captions covering other captions or text is probably a close second though.

The subtitle enlarging worked. I don't like how you have to wait until the movie starts to check if it's in HD or not, and what the audio is. Or am I missing something? Netflix is much better in every aspect for me, including image quality.

I would be great if on letterboxed movies they could put them in the black space on the bottom. One service I have does this but I can't remember which one

That's not uncommon with LCDs. I'm familiar with that scene, and there wasn't any edge blur on my Panasonic PDP.

Amazon has landed U.S. rights to the anthology series “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams” from Sony Pictures Television.

“Outlander” and “Battlestar Galactica” show runner Ronald D. Moore is teaming with “Breaking Bad” star turned producer Bryan Cranston on the ten episode project which was produced by UK’s Channel 4.

The series will feature adaptations of the revered science fiction author’s works which resulted in such films as “Blade Runner,” “Minority Report” and “Total Recall”. Cranston is expected to appear in at least one episode.

I strongly recommend "The Infiltrator," which stars Brian Cranston. It's a great thriller with terrific editing and cinematography, based on a true story. One of the most entertaining movies I've seen in the last year.

Sneaky Pete might be the best series yet. It has a Better Call Saul cleverness to it. The ending was left wide open for a reason. This one is coming back if at all possible.

+1 on Sneaky Pete (think it was talked about earlier in this thread). Cranston was great. The story sort of finishes up for season 1, so they don't leave you with a big cliff hanger. Ends with a continuation of the story line, so you can look forward to season 2 (without having to worry about remembering everything that happened in season 1).

thanks to pbarach's tip, I have now watched The Infiltrator. Cranston was amazing, as he always is. He is approaching Denzel and Tom Hanks territory with me when it comes to his presence meaning that whatever he is in will be good. This film made me wonder how anybody could do a job as ugly and soul murdering as undercover cop. Brrr!

does anyone ever get any speaker "chirp" sounds occasionally? I using the service through a Roku Ultra. Replaying the same time segment doesn't replicate the sound.

Re: the movie Margin Call on Prime.

What happened here? Started it up and immediately thought, "Nope, not watching this". Elevated black levels all the way to a dark grey. Curious, I started the same movie on Hulu. Ahhh, pure inky blacks.

Must be a bad encode, because when I rented Resident Evil Afterlife on Amazon in UHD, the blacks were inky black.

Sounds like an RGB issue. It's not uncommon with streaming apps.

Worked better for me after I changed the Audio from auto to dolby . The chirping was constant before but only very sporadically now. I am speaking only of Netflix since other apps seem good.

I don't know how I missed "The Expanse" completely .. I'm always all in for any Sci Fi .. at any rate, I was pleasantly surprised Amazon has Season 1 on Prime ... hopefully, I can try and get a marathon in this weekend and then pickup Season 2 On Demand ..

I'm hoping they get S2 and future seasons also, and I wish they would get more SYFY shows like Dark Matter, Killjoys, Magicians, 12 Monkeys. I'm holding off watching Expanse until I catch up with the book series - I'm on book 4 now...

The Expanse looks better in UHD, although it didn't seem to be in HDR. Hard to watch it now in HD.

I'll stop ripping my BDs when I can put them in and watch the movie without trailers, warnings, cutesy menus...

As rdgrimes points out, you can watch Season 2 now, for money. It should become Prime eligible when S3 begins to air. In the meantime you can always watch S2 in the Syfy app, if you are a subscriber to a cable package which contains Syfy.
