Anyone know how Amazon Prime streaming content compares to Netflix? I have a trial Prime account and have dabbled a little. It seems like it's comparable, but I wanted to get other opinions. Some shows are available as free under your Prime subscription and others are not. Not sure what the criteria are for why some are free and others are not. Does it rotate? Several are also available in HD.

Netflix streaming is $96/year. Amazon Prime is $80/year, and you also get free 2-day shipping included in your subscription.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Netflix has about 5x the content as Amazon and the Netflix UI is hands down better, you can't make a queue with Amazon. If you buy a lot on Amazon then Prime makes sense but Netflix is an all around better experience.

Thanks for your input. My trial expires at midnight tonight and I just haven't had enough time to dig into it.

I don't think you can tell much by looking at just the numbers. As an example you might not like Mad Men or Breaking Bad but they are quality examples of recent shows that Netflix carries which won't be found on Amazon Prime. Overall Netflix has more depth and the content is of newer/higher quality... of course one can nitpick duplicate and or individual titles if they so wish.

There's enough on Amazon Prime streaming to keep you busy for years, including the entire Star Trek franchise, NYPD Blue and much more. If you order monthly or more from amazon and take advantage of the free shipping, the streaming is free. I dumped Netflix streaming months ago and haven't looked back.

I had both for awhile but didn't really use it to justify the expense. I love Amazon Prime and use the shipping service a lot so it makes sense for me to have Amazon Prime and the streaming is just an added benefit. So for me, it is adequate and has enough to offer that I elected to get rid of Netflix streaming. I don't think I would get Prime just for streaming but it is a nice added benefit to the shipping service.

My bookmark takes me to the St Louis OTA thread including old posts. But, when I click on "view first unread", it takes me to a "Video Download Services & Hardware" thread that starts with kugumby's post.

WTF?

The previous thread number was t=793006. See http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forum...er=desc&page=2

Since December 18 we have been redirected here. I have written to the forum administrators to ask what happened. It wouldn't hurt if more subscribers did the same.

Hey, Dan. How does one write to the Forum Admins? This really kills the site in its current form. Do you have a link or email address?

UPDATE --- I figured it out. Go to the bottom of the page. Look for "CONTACT US" link

A number of readers here have been having issues with keeping track of the St. Louis topic, as their bookmarks were taking them to this unrelated forum.

The problem started when I moved a post in this topic about streaming video services from the St. Louis topic to this forum as a separate topic.

All that readers have to do is update their bookmark to the last post in the St. Louis forum and it will work fine again.
